"What is life?" To approach this
fundamental yet ambiguous question, we have to pay attention to the
molecules of biological components such as proteins, nucleic acids,
sugars and lipids. To answer this question which has deep meanings
and spreads beyond foundation and application, we aim to reveal the
functions and structures of the molecules and their assemblies, clarify
the molecular network and also strive for the invention and discovery
of new bio-materials. As the cooperation among each field of physical
chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry is important for the
research of the life, the present department was established in three
major fields: Biodynamics (Biological Physics, Molecular and Cellular
Dynamics), Structure and Function of Biomolecules (Chemistry of Functional
Molecules, Structural Analysis), and Bioinformation and Regulation
(Biomolecular Reaction, Molecular Genetics). We continuously seek
to attract and nurture young minds having the capability of creative
thinking in order to advance these pursuits. |
