As a coalition of the Tokyo Institute of Technology faculty that aspires to promote innovative lifestyle solutions, the Organization for Life Design and Engineering (LDE) facilitates collaboration and cooperation across institutional boundaries. The organization aims to integrate and restructure health-, medicine- and security/safety-related R&D areas, which have become complicated because of specialization and increasing depth of knowledge, leading to the creation and development of a new academic discipline. In addition, given the progressive aging of the population with a declining birth rate in our society, the organization commits to developing technologies and creating new industries that contribute to the realization of a society where people can live in a healthy medical environment, as well as nurturing skilled personnel to participate in the processes mentioned above.
