The International Graduate Course in Bioscience and Biotechnology was initiated in 1993. Overseas foreign applicants send their applications to the Tokyo Institute of Technology in April or May, and admission to the graduate school is based solely on past achievement and future prospects in the appropriate academic fields, with no formal examinations or interviews. Once admitted, students are expected to begin their academic year in October. Knowledge of the Japanese language is not prerequisite to admission. Favorable letters of recommendation from reliable sources can prove helpful to the difficult process of selection.
A scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology is available to prospective students with exceptional academic records.
After joining us at Tokyo Tech, students begin classes and laboratory work leading to a Master's degree or Doctorate. For students enrolled in Master's degree programs, several classes are provided in English to facilitate the accumulation of sufficient credits for completion of the course.
All of the members of the graduate school, together with other foreign and domestic students, are helping us to ensure the success of this innovative international course.
